BEST ALTERNATIVES TO SCREENS

a yellow illustrated lightbulb

Remember!

Giving a child a screen to pass the time during traveling, appointments, shopping, restaurants etc. IS THE EASY THING TO DO… BUT IT IS NOT BEST FOR THEIR BRAIN.

Those little moments add up to crucial opportunity for helping your child develop skills that will benefit them for a lifetime.

What skills do children develop when they aren't on screens?

  • Their capacity to feel discomfort and use internal motivation and processes to solve negative feelings rather than outside stimulation

  • Practice self-control without screens

  • Increase their ability to delay gratification

  • Increase of attention span and ability to focus

It takes planning and preparation to help a child be successful in any waiting or confined situation without screens. It requires you to be a very INTENTIONAL about providing them with activities that stimulate the brain.
